(Call For Contributions) She Summons: Why… calling to action for Goddess Feminism, Activism and Spirituality?

We co-editors (Kaalii Cargill and Helen Hwang) propose a question as a special section for the She Summons collective writing book project:

Why/How … the coronavirus pandemic calling you to action for Goddess Feminism, Activism and Spirituality? Or your own question that addresses the coronavirus pandemic.

Your answer can be as short from as one paragraph or a few sentences to an essay/prose piece. What would you say?

We editors, Kaalii Cargill and I, have been receiving the Coronavirus theme proposals. Thank you so much and cheers to us all! What a special time that we are witnessing collectively for the good and the bad!

Since we, all people, are in the middle of its national and economic panic state let alone physical fear, it is necessary to have the deadline for Call for Contributions open throughout the corona lockdown. We will notify you again with a definite deadline and timeline. We hope you continue to give time to this call for She Summons and create something to be included in this special collective writing project.

She Summons: Why… calling to action for Goddess Feminism, Activism, and Spirituality? (Volume 1)

Call for Contributions

You are invited to contribute to the collective writing project She Summons: Volume 1. This project follows the three volumes of the collective writing project She Rises, the She Rises Trilogy, asking Why? How? and What? about our experiences and insights on Goddess feminism, activism, and spirituality.

For new contributors to be, we recommend you to check out our previous collective writing books including She Rises Volume 1, She Rises Volume 2, and She Rises Volume 3 as well as Celebrating Seasons of the Goddess Volume 1.

We have chosen the title for the next collective writing trilogy, She Summons.

As a verb, “to summon” means:
– urgently demand (help)
– call people to attend (a meeting)

As a noun, “a summons” means:
– a call to convene: convoking
– a call for specified action
– a bid to come: sending for
– a calling forth: evoking

There is an imperative urgency in a summons.

Adults keep saying. “We owe it to the young people to give them hope.” I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel everyday. And then I want you to act as if your house is on fire. Because it is.  Quote attributed to Greta Thunberg.

This first volume of the She Summons trilogy is asking “Why… calling to action for Goddess Feminism, Activism and Spirituality?” Tailor the why question for yourself and provide an answer to us all and the world. Your question can be “Why is S/HE calling to action for Goddess Feminism, Activism and Spirituality?,” “Why am I calling to action for Goddess Feminism, Activism and Spirituality?” or “Why is the world calling to action for Goddess Feminism, Activism and Spirituality?” Also poetry, prose, art, ritual and/or research article that addresses the causes of your take on Goddess feminism, activism and spirituality, broadly defined, are welcome! Historical, cross-cultural, and comparative perspectives will enrich this collective writing project!

Submission Secondary Deadline: Tentatively March 1, 2021 (Please email us if you need an extension. She Summons may need to arrive before the time when the Covid19 lockdown will be dismantled around the global cities.)
